Costa Rica Northern Zone Culture

Living in this area of Costa Rica is similar to living in the Midwest in the 50s or 60s. Family values are of utmost importance. Children work side by side with their parents. Families go to church together.  Visits to Grandparents are frequent.  People wave to you as you pass by and if your car should break down people stop and offer assistance.  When you arrive at someone’s house, the first thing they offer you is a cup of coffee or a “fresco” (natural fruit drink). People take the time to get to know their neighbors.

Throughout the year interesting cultural activities like rodeos, ATV rallies, horse shows, horse rallies, mountain bike rallies, community dances, soccer matches and cavalcades (horseback riding treks) through the neighboring farms are commonplace.
